On June 12, 1996, the Rabbinical Council of America adopted a resolution stating:
"In light of disturbing developments which have recently arisen in the Jewish community, the Rabbinical Council of America in convention assembled declares that there is not and has never been a place in Judaism for the belief that Moshiach ben David [Messiah son of David] will begin his Messianic mission only to experience death, burial, and resurrection before completing it."
In the following weeks a number of articles appeared in the Jewish media criticizing and seeking to discredit this resolution. The essay presented here, A Good Resolution About Moshiach / Many Lubavitchers Thank the R.C.A., was written in response to this criticism in general, and especially in response to a series of articles by Rabbi Shmuel Butman, Rabbi Isser Zalman Weisberg and Rabbi Zushe Silberstein which were printed in The Jewish Press .
Please feel free to copy and distribute this essay wherever possible. If you would like a copy in the form of a nicely printed booklet, send your request the above address.
You can also participate in the effort to publicize the Rebbe's true teachings by sending your tax-deductible donations to "Chassidus Unlimited Inc." at the above address, which will enable the presentation of more worthy material on this topic, and from the wide spectrum of Chassidic philosophy in general. We will be grateful for any contributions.
